Overview:
This is a TWO DAY course aimed specifically at unqualified Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE Award) staff and volunteers in schools or youth services that assist with expedition training or lead directly supervised BRONZE level walking expeditions, based in UK Lowland Countryside or in schools/youth centres. This course also meets the pre-requisites to undertake the Countryside Leaders Award (CLA) which will allow you to remotely supervise DofE Award expeditions within the awards remit.
Pre-requisites
Required:
- A direct link to a school or youth group delivering Bronze DofE Award;
- A basic understanding of the requirements of the DofE Bronze Award;
- Personal experience of walking within the Scope below.
Recommended, but not required:
- Basic camping experience;
- A valid 2 day outdoor first aid certificate.

Day 1 – Thursday 26th October 2023, 9.00am to 5.00pm
Day 2 – Friday 27th October 2023, 9.00am to 5.00pm

£450/person. A group discount of £50/person will be applied if a centre books 3+ spaces on the same course

Part 1: DofE e-Induction Course to be taken in advance of Part 2
Part 2: A 2 day part practical and part classroom based course

Certification
This is a non-assessed training course. Candidates will receive a Certificate of Completion, which can be used towards the prerequisites of other awards, such as the Countryside Leader Award (CLA).
