The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme supports people to connect with, enjoy and care for nature, landscape, and the natural environment
The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It supports people to connect with, enjoy and care for nature, landscape, and the natural environment by completing 4 areas of interest. There are 3 levels of awards that can be completed by anyone regardless of age, experience, ability or needs.
Over a minimum of 4 days, participants must complete each of the following areas:
- Discover a wild place: From school grounds to mountains, depending on age, experience, needs and cost. Any place of nature that makes you feel like you are in the wild.
- Explore it: Use all your senses to gain a better awareness and understanding to enjoy and find out more about your wild place.
- Conserve it: simple or complex, come up with some ideas on how to care for and even improve your wild place for you, others and the animals and plants.
- Share it: Be creative and tell others about your experiences of the 3 previous steps.
