Teen Tutors are teens from Leicester and Leicestershire, supported by COG Youth Services, who help younger children through a peer led tutoring approach. Each tutor will operate out of their local library and will have their own style or approach.

Using Teen Tutors is a great way for other children and young people to learn. This is because:

  • Students receive more one to one learning.
  • It allows the tutor and learner to focus on what works best for that learner.
  • Students feel more comfortable and open when interacting with someone closer to their age.
  • Tutors and students share similar experiences of learning, meaning they understand each other better.
  • Teen tutoring is great value, both financially and for the learning experiences.

COG Youth Services Ltd is a huge local leader of youth led social action projects. By booking a tutor through us, you will be supporting COG Youth Services to deliver even more youth led projects, as we reinvest any money raised, through the scheme, back into the community.

Costs

Our tutors charge £10/hour for a standard tutoring session (1 hour slot in Maths, English or Science). If you have any special requirements (for instance, sessions lasting longer then 1 hour or tutoring in subjects other than Maths, English or Science), the tutor, may charge at a different rate, which could be higher or lower. Tutors may also offer bulk discounts but additional terms may apply, such as non-refundable payments in advance.

Do you live in Leicester or Leicestershire, aged 13-18, have achieved (or predicted to achieve) a minimum of grade 7 in Maths, English or Science and want to earn your own money? Then why not be a Teen Tutor?

We provide everything you need to get started and will support you throughout the whole process. You’ll get to meet with other teen tutors from across Leicester and Leicestershire and you’ll be helping to support youth projects.

All you have to do is contact us and express your interest. We check your grades and complete any paperwork (such as DBS checks), then provide you with your own professional email address, some leaflets (to give out to potential clients) and a set of revision guides for the subjects you will tutor. Every time you tutor someone, you donate some of that income back to us. This helps repay our investment into you and eventually, allows us to pay for social action projects across the city and county.
